Comments and User-Generated Content

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitorโ€™s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

WordPress Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How We Collect Your Data

Information you provide directly (e.g. comments, food orders, registration)

Data collected automatically (cookies, analytics, server logs)

Data from third-party services (e.g. ad networks, embedded content)

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

  • Comments: indefinitely (to recognise and approve follow-ups)
  • Accounts: while active, or until you request deletion
  • Orders: as required for tax and accounting purposes
  • Analytics and advertising data: retained according to third-party partner policies

Who We Share Your Data With

Our hosting provider (IONOS) processes technical data (like IP addresses, server logs) to keep the site secure and running.

Payment providers (for processing orders)

Ad networks and analytics providers may receive pseudonymous identifiers and usage data, depending on your cookie preferences.

Legal Bases for Processing (UK GDPR)

  • Consent: for analytics, advertising, and marketing communications
  • Contract: to process orders and provide requested services
  • Legitimate interests: to maintain security, prevent fraud, and improve our services

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

You have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Request correction or deletion
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential processing
  • Object to certain uses of your data
  • Request a copy of your data in portable format

Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissionerโ€™s Office (ICO) if you are unsatisfied.

How We Protect Your Data

We implement technical and organisational measures, including secure hosting, encryption, and access controls, to protect personal data from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.

Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child, we will delete it.

Where Your Data Is Sent and International Transfers

Your data may be transferred outside the UK/EEA (e.g. to the US) by our advertising and analytics providers. Safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are used where applicable.

Food Orders and Payment Information

If you place a food order through our site, we collect your name, contact details, delivery address, and order details to process and fulfil your request.

Payments are securely processed by our third-party payment providers. We do not store full payment card details on our servers. Once a payment provider is chosen, their name and privacy policy link will be added here.

Interactive Activities (e.g. Tier Lists, Quizzes, Polls)

Participation in interactive features may involve storing your inputs, rankings, or votes. These may be displayed publicly in aggregated form but are not linked to your identity unless you choose to create an account.

Advertising and Analytics

We may display adverts on this website, either directly or through advertising networks. Advertisers and their partners may use cookies and similar technologies to personalise or measure ads. Once advertising is active, you will be able to manage your consent preferences via our cookie banner. We may also use analytics tools (for example, Google Analytics) to understand how our site is used.

In addition to display advertising, we may include affiliate links, sponsored posts, or endorsements. Clicking on these links may allow the affiliate network or advertiser to track your activity through cookies or similar technologies, in order to attribute purchases and pay us a commission. These third parties may collect information such as your IP address, device details, and the fact that you visited our site. Please refer to the privacy policy of the relevant affiliate network for more details.
